It's just not that simmple

The whole Christianity versus cross-dressing thing is always close to my heart and not far from my mind so I was interested when I saw this on a blog I had not visited before.   Kelli says nothing new here, but it is good to hear another cross-dresser who is proud of their faith and not feeling excluded from God's love.

Whatever I shall be at church in the morning, with my family, and that is how it should be.

Explain what Christianity has against crossdressing. The same "Old Testament" verse that says a man wearing a woman's clothing is an abomination also says you must stone a rude child. I don't think you guys do that part.

There are lots of things in the OT that you "overrode" in the new bible, like kosher laws.

And I've seen an interpretation of "a man wearing a woman's clothing is an abomination" meaning a specific woman's clothing ~ so get your own dam clothes and live it up!

In the New Testament (book of Acts and some of the letters) there are some specific passages dealing with Kosher, and circumcision, explaining that these are rules for the Jews only, not for gentile believers, Messianic Jews would continue with these practises but gentiles would not need t adopt them ~ but the whole question of which laws we choose not to follow is an interesting theological question, I continue to shave and get my hair cut, and there are no tassels on the corners of my cloak, although there have been times when I could easily have stoned a teenage boy, so far I have resisted temptation.

I have also heard it said that this short passage refers to a particular immoral religious practise at the time in the temples of a particular local god.

And the "stoning" stuff has been written about copiously throughout the ages ~ mostly to show that the actual circumstances when such a thing MIGHT happen are so specific that they would NEVER happen, in the real world. The whole thing is posited as a test from God, akin to the Isaac story.

But, Paula, I'm commenting here mainly to apologise for my tone in my first comment. I had a bad day and little sleep and I realised later that it came across as holier-than-thou (literally). I'm sorry. I have explanations but no excuse and I'll try to not do that again.

And I hope anyone who saw my first comment sees this as well ~ I'm not really a bitch.

Of course you're not a bitch and you are forgiven, after all that's what friends are for
